Hammer Installation and introduction

Gearcraft is the program that Nightfire developers used to make nightfire maps. You can use other Level editors like Quark but they are not supported by NFBSP.

After you learn the Basic Tutorial of Hammer/Gearcraft, you may want to see some expert tutorials, or check the List of Entities by name or type to get information of some entities.

Installation

The installation is pretty easy, just download the ["Nightfire Level Editor"] and follow the instructions. The compile tools and entities are included with the setup, you don't need special files, everything is included.

Game Configurations menu

The settings are all preset in the Hammer included with the installation. To get to the Game Configuration menu, Go to Tools >> Options

The directories in game configuration is C:/Archivos de Programa/EA Games/Nightfire. "Archivos de Programa" in Spanish means "Program Files" in English. You have to change that to "Program Files". If your Windows is in a different language other than English, You will have to change it to the "Program files" mentioned by the Windows. ( For Spanish : Archivos de Programa)

If you have Installed Nightfire in a Different drive, Replace C with the Drive's letter in which Nightfire is Installed.

Now I'm gonna change it to Program Files, It should look like this,

Build Programs menu

You just have to fill the boxes in the menu if you want to compile and run your maps on Nightfire (and I think that you will want).

In the Game exectuable Box, fill it with

C:/Program Files/EA Games/Nightfire/bond.exe


In the Corrector.exe box, fill it with

C:\NFEditors\tools\Corrector.exe


In the BBSP.exe box, fill it with

C:\NFEditors\tools\bbsp.exe


In the BRAD.exe box, fill it with

c:\NFEditors\tools\brad.exe


In the bvis.exe box, fill it with

C:\NFEditors\tools\BVIS.exe


In the Nightfire maps box, Specifiy the directory in which you want to put the compiled maps.


After you have done all of the above, It should look like this

If Nightfire is Installed in a different drive other than C:/, change it to the drive in which Nightfire is installed.

If your windows is not English, Program Files have to be changed according to the one mentioned by Windows.

Textures Setup

As the Hammer Editor uses .WAD's , You will have to download the Nightfire wad from Here

To add .WAD's , Point to Tools >> Options and then Texture, Browse and select the .WAD files to be added.
